it says connect the cable to the ethernet at the back of the modem..but that means u have to take the ethernet cable out from the modem which disconnects u from the internet.....connecting to internet
the ethernet cable doesn't connect you to the internet, either a phone jack does, or a cable wire. Then the ethernet cable goes out of the modem and into the pc/360/whatever.connecting to internet
dont most routers have atleast 2 ethernet ports?
Do you just have a modem or do you have a Modem to ROuter setup? If you doing just the modem you will need to get a ethernet cable, connect that to the 360 then disconnect the cable going to your computer then plug in the cable to your 360, THEN make sure you restart the modem by unpluging the power wire and pluging it in. You will need to restart the modem everytime you disconnect the ethernet cable from the computer to the 360 or pc, otherwise just get a router thats compatible that way you can have the PC and the 360 pluged in at the same time.
I have a Dlink Router (Cheapest on the market) and I have 4 ports and I don't use a phoneline, my connection comes down the TV cable. The Cable plugs into the back of the modem, the modem is plugged into the Router using an Ethernet Cable and then the Xbox is plugged into Port 3 of my router. (Port 1 is for my girlfriend's computer, Port 2 is for my laptop/computer, Port 3 is for my 360 and Port 4 will eventually be used for the PS3 sometime next year.)
I understand what your saying in the Modem (mines ntl) there is an ethernet cable going from the modem to the PC which alows you the enternet. if you take that cable out you dont get internet on your PC any more, so what i suggest that if you look at the bottom, back, of your tower there should be two extra ethernet cable slots, these are spare ones. check which one has the highest Mbps by holding Ctrl + Alt + delete then click networking then find out which one has the most Mbps. atach the ethernet cable to your PC and the xbox 360 and you will be sorted.
